Alis’s Journey through the Chakras

Sunday 30 July – 12:00 – 14:30 – Empower and open your heart
Sunday 13 August – 12:00 – 14:30 – Connect to the infinite web of communication
Sunday 27 August – 12:00 – 14:30 – follow your wisdom and intuition

We live in a fragmented world where our minds are often severed from our bodies. This disconnects us from our true nature and leaves us with a deep desire to reclaim our wholeness.

Journey through the chakras in this four part series; the chakra system is an ancient map of the 7 primary energy centers. We will work to balance the chakras by flowing through a series of grounding, opening, and balancing postures, to demystify the nature of each chakra. This journey will encompass all areas of your life from the somatic level of physical and instinctual awareness to the more abstract realms of transpersonal consciousness.

We will explore asanas (yoga postures) to help tune and balance our 7 main energy centers. Each chakra is associated with particular functions within the body, which can become blocked by holding onto stress and negative emotions. Practicing poses that correspond to each chakra can help to release these blocks, allowing energy to flow freely to provide a sense wholeness, and strong connection to the self. We will also explore pranayama, mantra, meditation, guided writing and Yoga Nidra.

Empower and open your heart

The journey continues as we discover our sense of self in the third chakra (Manipura Chakra). Our powerhouse, and sense of self worth energized by the fire element, we begin to turn emotion and desire into action.

Transformation is imminent as we explore the third chakra through our solar plexus, bringing together first and second chakra, matter and movement to create energy in the third chakra. The fire of our third chakra will further propel us up the remaining chakras.

Within the fourth chakra (Anahata Chakra) the solid matter from the lower chakras is converted to energy. The Anahata Chakra also solidifies the higher energy of the upper chakras so it can travel down through the lower chakras.

This is mid-way through the 7 chakras and it a point of balance. The heart chakra moves into the softer touch of the spirit, and where we are now at the center of things, at the heart of the matter. The heart chakra is the center of love, where Shiva and Shakti are united. Here we feel empathetic connection, love without desire, and inner harmony.

This workshop will focus on connecting to and stimulating the core through a series of twists, pranayama, opening the heart through restorative and energising backbends as we seek to connect to our power and rekindle our ability to give and receive love.

There are four parts to the Chakra series with Alis. Join one, some or all of them!

£25 per session or £65 to join all four.

Stress Management Course

Sunday 03 September – Sunday 01 October 12:00 – 14:00

In this 5 week course, Lorna will be teaching you how to use yoga, pranayama and a range of mental techniques to offer you a variety of tools to use in your day to day life to take control of your world.
Stress can be defined as the the response to a demanding situation. The thing is, it’s not the situation itself but the reaction and actions we take to that situation that lead to debilitating illness of both body and mind.

Our well-being and ability to manage stress is about taking charge of physical and emotional responses as well as environmental and social aspects of our lives. Managing stress can only really begin when we have identified the stressors that we are exposed to. These are unique circumstances to each us. By learning to recognise our unique triggers and implementing stress reduction and relaxation strategies, we can begin to regain balance, develop resilience and reduce the negative of impact of daily life.

This course includes a combination of practical exercises, yoga practice and yoga nidra. Each week we will look in more detail at a specific aspect of stress and offer techniques to use in the ‘real world’. This is a practical course that will leave you with a better understanding of the root causes of your stress and the tools that will help you not only cope but thrive.

The course will include:
– What is stress – understanding the physical and emotional signs
Identifying your stressors
– Free writing to change your perspective
– Yin yoga for physical and energetic stress release
– Yoga Nidra for deeper relaxation
– Introduction to meditation
